Zombie skin – your make-at-home guide!

Zombie Skin

Zombie skin is one of the most favoured Halloween makeup ideas – use this easy guide to do it yourself in the comfort of your own home!

Despite looking horrific, zombies are liked by lots of people so choosing to be one for Halloween will be very fun. In order to become a zombie though you will need to add some special effects make-up and go through multiple steps.

With some red paint and tissues you can easily get a neat homemade zombie look without having to invest a lot. All you need to do is to wet the area that you are trying to zombify, in this case the arm for example. You will have to use some q-tips in order to add the paint in small splotches on the arm. This will help you get the blood effect that you want. After this process has been completed, you will have to grab some tissue or even some toilet paper if you want, then separate it into two different pieces. This is not a necessary step, but it’s important to know that if you make it thinner it will get a much better look, and that’s definitely something you want, especially if you are going towards authenticity.

Once you process the tissues, you need to gently add them on the painted area, then use the q-tips again in order to spread the tissues and gain the desired look.

For an even more authentic feel, you might want to create a gash within your skin. This does require a little more attention to detail than you might expect, but with enough commitment you might be able to pull it off. The process also requires you to wash your hands before starting, so do that quickly. Once that is done, you will have to add some foundation in the area that you want to cover. Then, you will have to place some toilet paper and once that is done, you will need to glue it. Once you do that, all that remains to be done is to cut it and then use your artistic skills in order to paint it as realistically as possible.

As you can see, there are lots of ways that you can create an authentic zombie look. It can be a little tricky to get this right, so try it as many times as you need.

Of course, if you want to learn a professional way to create skin effects such as the zombie skin for example, you will need to enroll at Face to Face Potchefstroom, as this is the only place where you can get these precious skills, while also having the opportunity to receive an international diploma that will help you get hired in fields of work such as theatrical, special effects, hair and media make-up or so on.
