The Difference between Eyelash Extensions and False Eye Lashes

The difference between Eyelash extensions and false eye lashes.

When you want elegant, bold or accentuated eye lashes, you may need to go to artificial means to obtain this goal. It’s no secret that most of Hollywood’s greatest stars didn’t grow their lashes naturally. Many use eyelash extensions these days and in the past, false eye lashes were the only option. Great mascara can only get you so far. This is why many turn to eyelash extensions of false eyelashes.

Most everyone knows what fake eye lashes are. What they don’t know is that there is a difference between eyelash extensions and fake eye lashes. So let’s take some time to explore this topic more in depth.

First, let’s note that the two are NOT the same. False eyelashes can be purchased and applied yourself as part of your makeup regime. Eyelash extensions must be applied by a professional. False eyelashes are also cheap and can be purchased nearly anywhere, but eyelash extensions can run you $100-250 or more in some cases.

There are some other ways they differ. See comparisons below:

Time – An eyelash extension treatment could take as long as 2 hours to complete. You can apply false eyelashes in 10 minutes or less.

Weight – False eyelashes are heavier and may feel uncomfortable on the eyelids. Eyelash extensions are made from materials to mimic real eyelashes and will wear more comfortably and lighter. You will forget they are there after a couple of days.

Look – Eyelash extensions are in the exact likeness of real eyelashes so they will look more natural.

Durability – Extensions will not fall off and will grow with your natural eyelashes. False eyelashes can slip and slide, or fall off, depending on wear.

Cost – As mentioned above, eyelash extensions will cost you considerably more.

So which do you choose? Well, it all depends on what your purpose is. If you just want to extend your lashes for a special event, a photo shoot or other temporary use, then false eyelashes will probably do the trick. If you’re looking for daily wear and a more permanent result, then you should consider eyelash extensions.
