Short hairstyles for round faces

If you have a round face you may have been trying hopelessly to get a short hairstyle that actually complements your round face.

You might have tried long, short, spiky, wavy, but have never found exactly what it is that perfectly suits your round face. Well, as usual I am here to help you with just that!

The most important thing you have to remember is that this hairstyle is not aimed at making your face look even more round, or flat. It must reduce the roundness of your face, but without turning your look into a disaster by being too obvious about it.  There are many options available for you, but today I’m going to focus on one of the newest trends – short hair for round faces.

If you’ve been blessed with curly hair, your first option is to get a layered cut that falls just below the cheekbone. Do a centre partition and allow your layered curls to softly frame your face. Make sure you use a moisturizing conditioner and a leave-in mousse to prevent frizzing.

Pixie haircuts are also highly recommended if your face is on the round side. The pixie at your crown reduces half of your forehead and the short cropped look takes the focus of the roundness of your face by accentuating your neck, making it appear longer. This hairstyle is also pretty effortlessly achieved, simply shampoo, towel dry and apply some gel and you’re set!

The newest trend is a gamine cut with spiky layers all around the crown. It works so well because it downplays the roundness of your face in a big way. The choppy pieces on the top add to height which lengthens your face and emphasize your eyes. If you have curly hair you might want to steer clear of this one, it’s much better suited for straight hair. Simply shampoo and apply a leave-in conditioner that lightens your hair.

Short, sharp bobs are ideal for round faces and right behind the gamine pixie in line of the newest trends. Chin length bobs are ideal if you want to compensate for an overly round face. Depending on the straightness of your hair, be careful when choosing a fringe. Straight and above the eyebrows may create a square look, while an asymmetrical cut will blend into the bob, furthering moving focus from the roundness of your face. If your hair’s frizzy, you might want to use a styling mousse to keep it in check – otherwise a simple shampoo and moisturizing conditioner should do the trick!

The days of short hairstyles being frowned upon are over! The latest trends prove that women with round faces look and feel their best with short hair. Do your look a favour and snip, snip, snip – and proudly wear your new short look for your round face!
